Do you believe in Ghosts?

Everything has a perfectly rational explanation. Scientists work daily to further our understanding of the workings of the universe, from the quantumly small to the galactic super clusters. Then why do so many programmes on television focus on things that are outside our current scientific understanding? Isn’t this just journalism? “Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.” Maybe most of it is only to put up the ratings or to fill the schedules. But, occasionally, things do happen that cannot be explained away by physics, chemistry, biology or psychology.

People don’t like to mention that something peculiar is happening to them, something they don’t understand or makes them uneasy. They find it too embarrassing to ask for help. Yet isn’t that what Christian ministers are for? They will listen to your seemingly irrational fears. Talking the worry through may well solve the problem but what if it is beyond natural experience? Who else can deal with things beyond normal science? Even if things prove too difficult for local clergy (and I don’t claim to be an expert), every diocese in the Church of England has specially trained people who can assist if anything is too complex, troublesome or malevolent. There is nothing that is beyond the power of Jesus to deal with. No disturbed spirit or force of evil is too strong for him.

Please don’t be afraid to ask – I will listen and, even if I can’t help directly, I know people who can.
